A Study of Photochromic Lens Coating for Sunglass

Abstract
The purpose of this study is to investigate the possibility of use of the photochromic lens for the sunglass. SiO2 thin film layer with thickness of 50 nm, Cr thin film layer with thickness of 5 nm~7 nm, and SiO2 thin film layer with thickness of 10 nm were evaporated on the front side of the photochromic lens hard-coated. The anti-reflection coating was performed on the backside surface of the photochromic lens. On the experimental results regarding the characteristics of photochromic lens evaporated with Cr thin film layer, the following conclusions were drawn. The reflection rate increases with Cr thickness, accordingly the transmission rate decreased from 45% before photochromic coating to 25% after photochromic coating for the Cr thin film layer with thickness of 7 nm.
